The appearance of Poseidon, the God of the Sea, made Medusa fall head over heels in love with Poseidon. She went to Athena’s temple to seek forgiveness. Athena, furious with Medusa’s actions, cursed Medusa, transforming her into a monster, whose gaze would turn any mortal into stone!
